John Chapman retired as chief information officer for Georgetown University in Qatar in January 2016. Now residing in Malaysia he is a consultant and senior advisor for Internet2 on global NRENs relations, focused on projects in the Middle East and Asia, and chairs the Internet2 Middle East Regional Interest Group. For more than 25 years Mr. Chapman has worked in the field of information technology as an administrator, consultant, teacher, and technologist. His 40 year career in Canada and the Arabian Gulf spans science, technology and service delivery in higher education, government, and private industry. Mr. Chapman has degrees in computer science and business administration. His special interests are global education networks, technology in education, advancing education and research in developing countries, and the management of service organizations in culturally diverse environments.
